First works in public collections (1954-1958)

Pierre Carron was barely over twenty when institutions began to take an interest in his painting. In 1954, the French State bought a Nature morte (still life) from him; the following year it was sent to the French Embassy in Montevideo, where it remains on deposit. The same year, the Musée d’Art moderne de la Ville de Paris acquired Vernissage, a painting from around 1953.

In 1955, the State bought a Composition, placed in 1956 with the Musée Denys-Puech in Rodez. In 1958, the Société des Amis du Musée national d’art moderne gave the museum a Nature morte, now in the Centre Pompidou collection. A last Composition, painted on jute canvas, entered the State collection in 1968.
