Donation to the National Art Museum of China (2025)

On 17 March 2025, the National Art Museum of China in Beijing received seven paintings by Pierre Carron, donated by his family at an official ceremony. They joined the five works the artist had himself given to the museum, which now holds twelve of his oil paintings.

The twelve works were brought together in an exhibition shown until 8 April 2025: scenes of childhood, games and landscapes, including two canvases referred to in the Chinese press as The Girl with Blue Eyes and Games on the Carpet. On behalf of the family, Jean-Baptiste Astier de Villatte recalled how deeply his father had been struck by the colours and forms he discovered on his visits to China.

Pierre Carron’s ties with the museum go back at least to the 2015 exhibition.
